Samsung Galaxy S4 Active specs and pictures leak

We’ve got our first peek at the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active I9295, the rugged version of the current Samsung flagship. While this phone has been circulating around the rumour mill a lot in the past couple of weeks, the rumours never threw up a picture of the device. 

GSMArena has got hold of some images of the smartphone, which warrants a double take to confirm that it is indeed a Samsung phone. This is a totally new approach to design from Samsung. The bright red metallic shell has exposed screws on the back, and there are three Android hardware buttons below the screen. The Active is said to be dust and water resistant, but that doesn’t mean the specs are any less impressive than the Galaxy S4.

One picture of the phone shows the results from an AnTuTu test, pointing towards a quad-core Qualcomm 1.9GHz processor along with an Adreno 320 GPU ticking inside. This indicates that the Active will be getting the Snapdragon 600 chipset. The screen looks to be of the same size as a Galaxy S, but we don’t know the exact size of it. What we do know is that it will be a full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The source of the images also claims that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has an 8 megapixel rear camera, unlike the 13MP sensor of the S4.

Overall, the specs and the new design for a Samsung phone has piqued our interests in this phone. There’s no word on when we will be seeing an official unveiling of the S4 Active, but GSMArena says it was showcased in Croatia recently and an announcement is imminent.
