Samsung launches TecTiles 2 NFC stickers for Galaxy S4
TecTiles, which Samsung had launched last year, seems to have been a hit. Or at least it was enough of a hit to make Samsung make a new version of the accessories for its new flagship handset – the Galaxy S4. Samsung has released a new version of the accessory, dubbed TecTiles 2, on its own store. A set of five TecTiles 2 stickers cost $14.99, which roughly translates to Rs 821.
TecTiles are near-field communications (NFC) stickers that can be placed anywhere. Its main use is to help you automate tasks. You do this by programming the TecTile with a certain app on your NFC-enabled phone and just touching the back of the phone to the TecTile. This will make it do whatever you have programmed it to do. The app to program TecTiles 2 is available on Google Play.

TecTiles can be programmed to do simple as well as slightly complex things. Simple things that TecTiles can do include making the phone go silent and start the alarm when you put the phone on the table next to your bed. You can also make it, for instance, dim the lights without getting up from your couch to get to the switchboard, or even activate a media player without actually going to it.
Specific availability for India hasn’t been announced yet, so stay tuned. However, it’s important that NFC in India is still at a nascent stage and we’re hoping the situation changes soon.
