New Google APIs Target Play and Games

Google on Wednesday announced new APIs for Google Play services and gaming, new features for the Google Play Developer Console, and a new Android Integrated Developer Environment (IDE) at the Google I/O 2013 Conference in San Francisco.

Google Cloud Messaging, which pushes data from servers to Android apps, has been made part of Google Play services.

The company also announced that, in effect, its Android and Chrome platforms would remain separate, putting an end to speculation that the two might be merged.

Google will offer an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone running an untweaked version of Android with the bootloader unlocked. The device, which will be offered at US$650, will be available at the Google Play store.  FULL ARTICLE AT TECHNEWSWORLD
